Canada’s 150 anniversary inspires us to think about the past, present and future of heritage in Canada and in the Capital. Can what we value as heritage in our communities, architecture and public spaces help us to shape a more sustainable future? This is an issue we face every day in the capital, and is one that is being discussed by the international community in the context of United Nations sustainable development goals.
The National Capital Commission is kicking off Heritage Week with a conversation among several distinguished speakers on this essential link between heritage and sustainability.

- Jean Carroon, Goody Clancy Architects, Boston and author of Sustainable Preservation: Greening Existing Buildings
- Mark Brandt, MTBA Associates Inc., Ottawa and lead author of Building Resilience, Practical Guidelines for the Sustainable Rehabilitation of Buildings in Canada
- Brenda Odjick, Kitigan Zibi Anishinabeg
- Heather Thomson, Manager, Heritage Program, National Capital Commission (moderator)
Attendees will have the opportunity to address their comments and questions to our expert panel.
