MTBA Takes the Stage at Global Climate Action Summit in San Francisco

Demonstrating further leadership in Sustainability and Carbon Mitigation of the built environment, Mark Thompson Brandt, of MTBA, on behalf of ZNCC, has been asked to lead two key sessions at the Global Climate Action Summit in San Francisco, September 11-14, 2018. This conference brings together specialists and leaders from around the world to act as a Launchpad for a deeper world-wide commitment against Climate Change. GCAS involves business leaders, investors, scientists, design professionals, and nonprofits, invested in decarbonisation of the global economy. The event is being chaired by Jerry Brown, Governor of California, Patricia Espinosa, Executive Secretary of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, former NYC Mayor, Michael Bloomberg, the UN Secretary General’s Special Envoy for Climate Action, and other titans of industry and global affairs.

 

 

 

 

1. On September 11, 2018, Carbon Smart Building Day will provide concrete steps that governments, corporations and organizations can take to lead the industry transformation necessary to realize our vision of a Zero Net Carbon (ZNC) built environment in the coming Low Carbon Economy, with a focus on:

Existing Buildings – Operations and Embodied Emissions. Goal to extend building lifespan to 100 + years and retrofit existing buildings to ZNC operations by 2050 or earlier

MTBA’s Mark Thompson Brandt has been asked to Chair the session, Best Practices for Delivering Deep Energy & Carbon Reduction Upgrades during the Carbon Smart Building Day. The Carbon Smart Building Conference Program will inspire and equip leading architects, engineers, contractors, and other industry stakeholders to scale up the building industry’s collective commitment to reduce the carbon emissions footprint of the built environment now. 2. Brandt will also chair the Carbon Mitigation and Cultural Heritage: Historic Preservation Policies & Practices to Get Communities Moving to Net Zero session at the Climate Heritage Mobilization event on September 12, 2018. Cultural Heritage Mobilization aims to mobilize the cultural heritage and historic preservation sectors for climate action in support of the Paris Agreement.
