How we Work

Over the past few years we have transitioned to a hybrid Architecture and Research studio and continue to evolve and to learn how best to refine our work approach

Hybrid Studio

As a starting point we have shared work procedures within the team and a split time (50-50) approach between in office and outside office. This provides flexibility and a variety of opportunities for collaboration.  It also allows us to experiment with different work styles, which have proven beneficial when participating in larger consultant teams.

Digital Headquarters

To provide flexibility, our systems are built to ensure that the entire team has access to the same files and information regardless of where and when they work. This includes cloud-based file sharing for all project files complete with key project information and deliverables being top-of-mind online project start pages.  This is critical when building a hybrid studio, as a remote-first approach to infrastructure is necessary.

Information Sharing

Building on the first piece of our digital HQ, we also employ a practice management platform where the entire team can find and share information on projects including schedules, milestones, budgets and tasks. In a hybrid set-up having a single point of information is critical to ensure everyone has the most current information on projects and activities.

Within the platform there is also a focus on who is doing what so we all understand what people are working on and when. This transparency helps us to proactively plan and provide a more balanced work load for the entire team.

It's Still Evolving

While we are more than two years into experimenting and implementing this way of working we are still exploring and adjusting our approach to improve how we work internally, within larger project teams and with clients.
