Mark Thompson Brandt, OAA, RAIC, CAHP, LEED AP, APT

Principal, Senior Conservation Architect & Urbanist

Profile
Mark Brandt has over 30 years experience in Architecture, Planning, Urban Design and Conservation and is considered a leader in Eastern Ontario/Western Québec in these fields. Brandt earned his Bachelor of Architecture (1982) and Bachelor of Environmental Design Science (1980) from Dalhousie University and undertook Environmental Design studies at the University of Waterloo (UW), Ontario.  Mark completed a joint Dalhousie/UW research thesis in architecture and urban design at Rome, Italy (1981) and has accomplished postgraduate studies in Architectural Restoration and Conservation with Dalhousie (1997), Cultural Landscapes at Willowbank Centre and Rutgers University (2012) and numerous advanced learning courses and certificates. A former professor of Architectural Design at Algonquin College School of Advanced Technology, and member of Algonquin’s Architectural Advisory Committee, Brandt has taught at Carleton University School of Architecture and delivered numerous lectures, presentations and published articles on Heritage Conservation & Sustainability, Adaptive Reuse, EcoDistricts and other subjects for a range of audiences.  Mark is the Co-Chair (Canada) for the Association for Preservation Technology’s Sustainable Preservation Committee and has served as officer and board member on many key organizations in the natural & cultural conservation and urban development fields.  For more information on Mark please view the “Professional Engagement” and “Recognition” section of this site.

Chris Warden, OAA, RAIC, CAHP LEED AP, APT

Senior Associate, Architect

Profile
Chris Warden has over 11 years of experience in the Architecture and Conservation fields. He earned both a Master of Architecture (2005) and Bachelor of Architectural Studies (2003) from Carleton University, and a certificate in Masonry Conservation (2013) from Willowbank School of Restoration Arts.  Warden’s developing expertise includes creative reuse of  heritage buildings while still maintaining their heritage character value.  Chris brings experience to the firm that includes a range of project types and sizes  for residential, commercial, industrial and institutional clients.  Chris is also involved with Urban Forum, an Ottawa based lecture series on urban issues and Docomomo Ontario, the international organization for documentation and conservation of monuments of the Modern movement.

Jorge Sosa, BArch, LEED GA, CPNAA*, SCA**

Architectural Designer

Profile
Jorge Sosa has over 8 years of experience on a wide range of project sizes and types including design competitions, private buildings, institutional buildings, commercial buildings, residential projects and large multi-million dollar high-level classified heritage buildings in Canada, Colombia and USA. He earned a Bachelor of Architecture from the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana (2008 – Bogota, Colombia), and a Green Architecture post-graduate diploma from Algonquin College (2010). Jorge’s expertise includes adaptive reuse of architecturally significant heritage buildings, sustainable design, and advanced 3D modelling.  Jorge was a valuable part of the winning team for the Ottawa Eco-logical Design Competition 2010.
